Dr. Zoltan Asztalos, Founding Director received his Ph.D. in biology at the Loránd Eötvös Science University, Budapest, Hungary in 1992. He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY, USA, Mitsubishi-Kagaku Institute of Life Sciences, Tokyo, Japan and at various Departments at the University of Cambridge, UK. He has more than fifteen years experience in fruit fly behaviour genetics. His publications cover studies on classical conditioning (learning and memory), sexual orientation (“homosexuality”) and habituation mutant Drosophila. He is one of the inventors of the Dual Tagging Gene Trap genetic system and inventor of Aktogen's behaviour screening technology.

Dr. Bill Budenberg, Director graduated in Applied Biology from Cambridge University in 1986, and then completed a PhD at Imperial College, London, in insect behaviour. In 1990 he took up a post-doctoral fellowship at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Nairobi, Kenya where he worked on banana weevils. This work demonstrated the existence of pheromones and kairomones, and went on to identify some of the chemical entities involved. After 3 years he returned to the UK, and founded Tracksys Ltd, a specialist distributor of scientific software, in the field of behavioural research. Tracksys Ltd supplies a range of software and hardware to universities, research institutes and companies, including those carrying out preclinical drug discovery.
